Some more from the plantation. Family lore says that the young woman in the oval portrait (at the bottom of this posting) received a marriage proposal from George Washington and turned him down because she thought he was a "country bumpkin." We all know that he went on to do very well for himself with Martha! And so did she. There's a pretty cool old tack room converted into a bar- one very nice feature if you want to have an event at this plantation. It's open to weddings and such. They won't make you use the rustic pottie.
