Friends and Parties

Mom took K to a beautiful grown-up birthday party. Dad was working late that night, but she didn't mind taking her to this evening shin-dig. K drank tea very primly and ate birthday cake among warm candlelight and poetry recitations from adults (I'm not kidding!) We were celebrating the birthday of Marcus with his wife Fiona and friends. They are a wonderful couple we know from church, who have a flair for drama, literature and music and all things Scot and Anglo, thanks to Fiona's heritage. Jerry and Twila are also new and very dear friends who hosted and who throw the most elegant fetes! But the cherry on top for Klara was the trampoline out back! The couple in the picture are also church friends who are expecting a baby and recently moved to our neighborhood. She's from a small town near Stuttgart which is not far from my German ancestors' home. Small world.



No, we didn't have another baby that you don't know about. This is James and Hilary's little man Peter. He's got such personality! He's very blessed to have them as parents.
