"Windows to Wonderland"

A light snow began to fall as we parked the car a few blocks from Independence Avenue on Capitol Hill. It was a little after 3pm, and we were heading toward the nearby Botanic Gardens, via a brief stop at Starbuck's (a place that always makes us think of Matt and Franziska). A cold winter's day is the best time to visit the indoor natural wonderland of rain forests, tropical and subtropical plants and trees, desert vegetation and related micro-ecosystems.

Even better this time, because there is a "Windows to Wonderland" exhibit on display for the holiday season. (For more info, see here). Klara enjoys the gardens more each time we visit, and this time exponentially more, it seemed. As you can see via the link and in some of the photos, the miniature world of the National Mall, with lights and trees and, best of all, moving trains, are a sort of window to wonderland.
